The aim of the project was to design a simple and cheap kite for children, which would be easy to build and use. This design is based on natural or easily recyclable materials like bamboo or fabric. The design of the kite is inspired by the shape and undulatory movement of the stingray. The visual appearance is also supported by a long tail which is important for the stability. The kite has got a stiff and lightweight preloaded frame which is thanks to the properties of bamboo very flexible and therefore it gives the kite an excellent stability and controllability. The old fabric was used as a cover because its durability. It can be easily unbuckled and washed clean – the kite can then look every season like a new one.
